PERMACULTURE:
A Designers' Manual
So many books show us just how unsustainable our societies are, and
leave us feeling hopeless and powerless. This book, as a foundation of
Permaculture Design, does just the opposite. There are many challenges
in the world today, but there are also many solutions...if only we
begin applying them. This book provides a framework to begin
understanding the natural processes around us, and lays out principles
of design that anyone can apply to redesign the way we interface with
this world.

Gaia's Garden: A Guide to
Home-Scale Permaculture
by Toby Hemenway
Toby transmits his love for and knowledge of Permaculture very well. He
first teaches the basics and then rehearses them in the different
chapters. The concepts sort of grow and develop while reading, which
leaves you with the feeling that you don't have to open the book again
to start designing your own garden. Toby's enthusiasm is also tangible
and infectious

Roof
Top Permaculture
Transformation of the Inner City
Environment
Maibritt Pedersen 1999 / 2002
This analysis of the roof top as an area for the development of
permaculture design, was chosen particularly as an investigation of how
roof tops effectively become a building’s fifth elevation. Roof tops
often viewed from above in a city (Wellington in particular), with
multilevel buildings, but rarely given the same amount of consideration
as the other four conventional elevations. Roof tops in some cases are
out of mind but not out of sight, becoming an unsightly and unlovely
yet very dominant part of the city experience. The notion explored here
is that these areas could become a very positive asset to a city if
they were covered in vegetation.

Bill Mollison in Western Australia
In 1980 Bill Mollison held a one day workshop in Nannup, Western
Australia, which was recored and has been converted to MP3 for all to
hear. In the interest of a faster download speed the files have been
compressed at the expense of sound quality. Recorded with an
open
microphone meaning there is considerable background noise, mostly wind,
chickens and flies.
